Fantastic news! We've moved into Sun Pier House, Chatham. With excellent views of the River Medway, come and visit us at our new base.
I spent an enjoyable week volunteering for SparkedEcho as an exhibition steward for Solace, an audio-visual installation designed to engage people with the natural world. Delivering the Sounds Like Sherbet Lemons music project has been an unusual experience - with lots of reminiscing, some iPads and the occasional Pear drop sweet thrown in. OK - so it’s not a standard recipe for running music workshops in a residential home, but at Montgomery Court in Strood, Rochester, something rather special happened. We’d like to share some of our learning as joint music facilitators on the project... We're excited to have been commissioned again by Ideas Test to produce this year's Sea Folk Sing. The project aims to improve the wellbeing of older people through music. The project will feature 9 ambitious site-specific performances, a virtual choir and 18 workshop opportunities to co-write new folk songs with established artists. If you're aged 55 and over and interested in the maritime history and sea folklore of North Kent, take part in our workshops beginning on 2 July 2019. Help write new songs that will be performed in public later this year by the Sea Folk Sing community choir, which you can also join! SparkedEcho have been commissioned by SATEDA to deliver music workshops in Swale, as part of the Switch Up programme - beginning on 4 June 2019. The SwitchUp programme uses music production as a tool to support families experiencing adolescent-to-parent abuse. We had a lot of fun recording a podcast interview with Gordon Lamont, for his series 'The Confidence To Create', providing advice for those working in the arts... SparkedEcho are pleased to announce that we are in the Cultural Catalogue 2019/20 for Thurrock schools. The catalogue has been developed by the Thurrock Trailblazer programme, which is supported by the Royal Opera House. It aims to offer access to the arts for young people, cross-curricular activities and CPD for teachers. 3 creatives have been locked away in The Martyrs' Gallery doing research and development. Solace is a new video and sound installation exploring how we respond to nature... |
