Music tech supports domestic abuse charity in Swale

​SparkedEcho have been commissioned by SATEDA to deliver music workshops in Swale, as part of the Switch Up programme - beginning on 4 June 2019.

The SwitchUp programme uses music production as a tool to support families experiencing adolescent-to-parent abuse.

​What is it?
SwitchUp is an 8-week programme of music production workshops, to support families in Swale, experiencing adolescent-to-parent abuse and breakdowns in their relationship. ​

Parents and young people are supported separately by trained professionals to start a journey towards more positive futures. Sessions are delivered through a combination of 1-2-1 and group activity, working in small groups of around 4-8 families. 

Music production is offered to young people as part of each session as a creative tool to engage and explore issues.

Suitable for:
Young people aged between 8-15 who are showing signs of abuse towards a family member. Parents and young persons can attend the sessions.

When:
Workshops are taking place on Tuesdays from 5pm - 7pm on the following dates - 

June: 4, 11, 18 and 25
July: 2, 9, 16 and 23

Who are the music workshop leaders?
Ellen Reynolds is a touring musician and educator, specialising in drums and guitar.
Kevin Grist is a producer focusing on music technology as a tool for live performance and composition.
