CINEMA CLUB.
Bringing the best of indie cinema and more to Medway, Cinema Club is chance to catch the movies that may have passed you by or you would never have considered seeing!
Running monthly, join us upstairs at The Huguenot Museum on Rochester High Street. Each event starts with an experimental short that may include immersive technology - all commissioned by Electric Medway and from local creators. You'll get an idea of both the work we do and the talent in the area before we show the main event. The screening room offers raked seating and space for wheelchairs. There is a lift. Soft drinks and popcorn are available to purchase.

BIRD (2024)
Wednesday, 26 March. You've just missed our first ever sell out event where we presented BIRD by Director Andrea Arnold, a tender, striking and extraordinarily surprising coming-of-age fable about marginalised life in the fringes of contemporary society. 12-year-old Bailey (astounding newcomer Nykiya Adams) lives with her devoted but chaotic single dad Bug (Barry Keoghan, Saltburn) and wayward brother Hunter in a squat in Gravesend, north Kent. Approaching puberty and seeking attention and adventure, Bailey’s fractured home life is transformed when she encounters Bird (Franz Rogowski, Passages), a mysterious stranger on a journey of his own. This event was supported by WALKS (2022), a series of short films from artist collective Kaths Kaff during the first COVID-19 lockdown. Commissioned by Electric Medway Festival, artists Caitlin Rowley (Gravesend), Katie Hanning (Bristol), and Jon England (Somerset) used their daily walks as creative prompts, each documenting their experiences. Rowley was in attendance and introduced the films.
A full programme for the year ahead will be announced soon. See our ticket page or sign up to our newsletter in the footer for the latest.
